How DoggyDay was born

Can you guess how many dogs live in NYC? Go ahead, best guess.

Stumped? That’s ok, we got you!

According to recent data there are currently a whopping 600,000 furry canines with helicopter ready tails, and 100% happiness to share. One Fall day, 2019, in a Brooklyn apartment complex with one of the dogs of the 600,000 and one concerned human out of 8.1 million in NYC is where our DoggyDay story begins.

Phoebe had just moved back to Brooklyn, NY when, Oh.My.God. The neighbor got a new puppy! 🤩  She thought it was a lot of good times ahead being able to see a cute puppy every once in a while, but that would make the story too uneventful so life threw a wrench in the way. The puppy always cried when its owner left to do human things that the puppy couldn’t partake in and Phoebe was left listening to the puppy crying thinking to herself– “I am home alone. The puppy is home alone. I wish I can have the puppy over until my neighbor is back.”

She continued thinking to herself; what would a community of like minded people look like, and how could that be made possible? Maybe a site that brings together people who love dogs, whether they have or don’t have one and want to positively impact a dog’s life? Was there a reason to pay a dog walker/sitter to walk/take care of the dog for just half an hour AND is a dog’s loneliness really necessary?

The answer was, no, it was not necessary because in a city of 8.1 million there were tons of people like her who would LOVE to hang out with a dog for no other incentive than sheer happiness and helicopter ready tails.

After summoning up the courage to quit her soul sucking 9-5 Phoebe used every skill she learned and every brain cell she was born with, and FINALLY DoggyDay was born! Now, there was a solution for one less lonely doggy, and many more neighbors who could share the joys of being with a dog whether they were blessed to keep one or not.

Cheers to the many happy times ahead!
