Screening dog sitters/ abusive behavior

Your dog is your baby, who deserves all the best things in this world like the best humans to socialize with. So, let’s make sure your dog is in good hands all the time.
Here are a few things to screen for and look out for to ensure your dog’s safety and happiness.
Questions to ask:
  • Do you have prior experience with dogs?
  • Do you have experience with dogs of my pet’s breed?
  • My dog tends to do or be (insert habit or behavior here) – have you had dogs that do this?
  • How do you handle emergency health situations?
Abusive behaviors to watch out for:
  • Your dog’s behavior has changed drastically (i.e. skittish, having frequent accidents, has become hostile, change in eating habits, etc.).
  • Unexplained injuries.
  • Your dog automatically hides when the doggy neighbor/owner comes around.
  • Bad communication between you and your doggy neighbor/owner when you’re not together.
Once you’ve found a few potential doggy neighbors/owners, arrange for a few more meet-ups so you can get to know them and they can get to know your dog. The goal is to nurture and grow your dog’s community circle so they can live their best lives.
Happy doggy days!
